Free invoices for Germany and the EU, ready for e-invoicing
For freelancers, small businesses and expats in Germany. Write invoices in German, English or Portuguese, let the tool pick the VAT treatment, and export an XRechnung file for B2B e-invoicing.

$ cat features.md
- Picks the VAT treatment from sender and client country and type: domestic, small business (§ 19 UStG), EU reverse charge, intra-EU goods, export, non-EU supplier, and prints the matching legal note.
- Compliance check against § 14 UStG, § 35a GmbHG and the EU VAT Directive: issuing is blocked until every required detail is there.
- Invoice texts in German, English and Portuguese.
- Gap-free invoice numbers per sender, optional monthly series per client, credit notes for corrections.
- Exports invoices, credit notes and self-billing invoices as XRechnung 3.0 (CII) XML, accepted by the official KoSIT validator.
- Browser mode: your data stays in your browser, with JSON backup export. Self-host it with PHP for multiple users.
$ cat why.md
I built this for my own companies, which invoice across Germany and Portugal, because every invoice tool I tried either got the VAT note wrong for cross-border cases or wanted a subscription for something this small. From 2027 and 2028, German businesses must send B2B invoices as e-invoices, so it now exports XRechnung too.
$ self-host-it
